The Shift

Waking up every morning in June of 2020 I was met with my television and cable box turned off. Pulling off my covers and getting out of bed, I would recite The Lord's Prayer. In my kitchen I let my thoughts travel through my mind as I sip on some coffee. A pandemic and civil unrest wasn't just outside my front door, but all over the world. I knew there was a lot that I could have written about, but there was a lot I had to consider.

Here we are in June of 2024. The homeless rate is the same. Illegal immigrants are being bused from city to city. Inflation has caused food prices to go up. Infrastructure of every major city has remained the same or without repair. Schools are teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT) and gender pronouns instead of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. The two candidates we have running for the White House is a "sleepy Joe" on the left and an "orange man" on the right. It seems to me that we are doomed either way.

I can't put my hand on it, but I can feel a shift coming. Whether the shift will be physical, mental, or spiritual I do not know. All I know is that I am starting to shift gears on a few issues and topics. Withdrawal from things that do not help me evolve has been one of my goals this year. Forming alternative universes or creating concepts for stories, doing me feels good.

We must wise up as it pertains to what causes affect us. Turning off the news or social media shouldn't be seen as a taboo. Reading a book or staring at clouds is better than scrolling through a phone all day. Whatever you have to do to get to know yourself and God do it. You do not have to be a scholar or a monk to do this. Starting off in small quarters will do you good. The time to put one foot in front of the other is now.

Prosperity or hardship may come out of the shift. Regardless of the outcome let us lock arms and unite. Black, white, male, and female must stand under one banner. If we look into ourselves and pull out our best attributes the world around us will be a better place. A media personality or a politician will not make our lives better. The gifts that have been given to us by God are the answers to our problems.
